IBHE Early Childhood Credential Completion Cohorts
(EC4) Grant


The EC4 grant initiative is designed to grow the number of working early childhood professionals who hold an Illinois Gateways credential or degree. Eligible Illinois institutions of higher education may apply for grant funds to support a cohort of working adults to complete a credential in Academic Year 2020-21.

Funds may be used to develop and implement personalized programs that support credential and degree persistence and completion through supports such as tuition waivers, mentoring, child care, travel, technology, books, or other key activities outlined the Request for Proposals. Applications are due to the Illinois Board of Higher Education by 5:00 p.m. on June 8, 2020.

Grants to institutions will be supported by $1,300,000 in federal funds from the Preschool Development Grant Birth through Five Initiative (PDG B-5), Grant Number 90TP0001-01-00, from the Office of Child Care, Administration for Children and Families, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
