Governor's Emergency Education Relief Fund

Governor's Emergency Education Relief Fund

The Governor’s Emergency Education Relief Fund (GEER), using federal dollars, is intended to overcome barriers created by the COVID-19 pandemic. Of these monies allocated to higher education, $3 million is set aside to support targeted initiatives to enroll and retain underrepresented, first-generation, and high-need students at public and non-profit, independent four-year institutions of higher education (IHE) in Illinois.

Applications for the grant were accepted by the Illinois Board of Higher Education
through 12 noon, Aug. 20, 2020. The awards are expected to be announced in September.
